Wecome to the Cucumis melo page. I discuss all things Cantaloupe related. I have no idea where on earth they originated, probably in the Americas. There doesn't seem to be any reason to lay down black plastic to heat the roots, as with Watermelon, for example.











Sweet Delight (85 days) - Honeydew melon type with pale green skin surrounding firm green flesh. Disease resistant plant producing 7-8 pound fruit.

Hearts of Gold (75 days) - Fine-grained, dark orange flesh and a small seed cavity. 6-inch diameter fruit.

Healy's Pride (80 days) - Introduced in 1952 by Elmer James Healy of St. Francisville, Illinois. Large heavily netted melons weigh up to 10 pounds. Sweet old-time muskmelon flavor.

Hale's Best Jumbo (85 days) - Very productive, fuit setting of 3-5 pounds at maturity and 6 inches long. Flesh is salmon colored and thick.

Minnesota Midget (65 days) - Vines are seldom over 3 feet long. Great for small gardens. Fruit 3-4 inches with high sugar content. Thick golden-yellow flesh inside.
